In Southern California, two counties are sending crews to Orange County after eight firefighters there were injured in a crash. They will help in the battle against the devastating Airport Fire, which is now more than 50% contained after days of progress.

All eight passengers in a firefighting vehicle that overturned were hospitalized, with six sustaining severe injuries.

Eight firefighters were injured, including six critically, after a fire truck rolled over and crashed on a California freeway on Thursday evening.

Many of the injured are going to be hospitalized for quite a while,’ OCFA Fire Chief Brian Fennessy said at Orange County Global Medical Center on Friday.

Four firefighters who had been battling the Airport fire remained hospitalized after their vehicle rolled over on State Route 241.

The firefighters had been battling the massive Airport Fire​ before eight were seriously injured in a rollover crash on a freeway in Orange County, officials said.

Eight firefighters were hurt -- including two critically -- when the fire truck they were in rolled over while returning from a 12-hour shift battling the Airport Fire wildfire, one of several large blazes raging in Southern California,
